Over 100 workers are planning to strike at the United Kingdom's largest structural steel contractor's site in Bolton.

The staff are taking action due to being offered a zero percent pay increase by management.

More than 90 percent of union members, employed as welders, platers, and machine operators, supported the strike action.

The company, responsible for steel work on major construction projects, claims it experienced a loss, prohibiting any pay increase.

Union members have already implemented an overtime ban.

Strike action is scheduled to begin with a full day, followed by two subsequent full days of walkouts on later dates.

The union sees the zero percent offer as unacceptable, especially given the high skill level of the employees.

Despite proposed settlement options, the company maintains the zero percent offer is final, leaving the workers with no alternative but to strike.
