Latest Vossloh Industrial Action Updates (2)

Workers at Vossloh in Scunthorpe are set to begin industrial action this week following the failure of pay talks between the company and a union.

The action stems from workers being offered a pay rise considered below inflation, especially when compared to packages offered to staff elsewhere in the company internationally and bonuses received by directors.

Vossloh is involved in the manufacturing of rails and connector components, including those designated for the Manchester tram network extension.

The planned cessation of work is scheduled to commence at 6 AM today, Monday the 15th, and continue until June.

The company is described as highly profitable, depending on the workforce to produce its goods.

The disparity in pay treatment compared to European colleagues during a period of high living costs is noted as a major source of worker frustration.

The industrial action is expected to impact significant UK rail infrastructure projects.

There is an expectation that the company will re-engage in discussions to resolve the dispute quickly.

GMB union has today announced sixteen days of strike action at rail manufacturing giant Vossloh. More than 90 per cent of GMB members rejected a real terms pay cut offered by the company.

Strike action at the Scunthorpe based company will take place on Friday 20 and Friday 27 October with further strike dates commencing from Tuesday 31 October.

Vossloh are a major provider of parts and components for UK Network Rail and strike action will no doubt have a significant impact on the company.
