V&A (PCS) Strike Calendar

Workers across all Victoria and Albert Museum sites have voted to take strike action and action short of a strike. In the ballot, 95.39 percent voted for strike action and 97.86 percent voted for action short of a strike, on a turnout of 87.04 percent.

The dispute concerns health and safety demands, including seating arrangements, heat mitigation measures, drinking water access, and closing public areas when temperatures reach 30 degrees.

Action short of a strike, including an overtime ban, work to rule, and withdrawal of cooperation, is set to begin indefinitely from 4 September.

A large majority of union members have voted in favor of strike action and action short of strike across multiple London museum sites. The dispute arises from management's failure to provide an acceptable pay offer or commit to becoming a Real Living Wage accredited employer. Workers are also demanding increased holiday pay and heat mitigation safety measures for both public and back-of-house areas.

The unions previously called for a resolution after management refused to participate in negotiations with an arbitration service. In preparation for the upcoming walk-outs, members plan to attend preparatory sessions in late August. A demonstration is also scheduled to take place at the South Kensington site in early September.
