Latest London Museums Industrial Action Updates (1)

Members of an organization working for the London Museum have overwhelmingly voted to authorize industrial action, including a strike, due to a dispute over pay.

A pay claim was initially submitted in March 2025, but the employer did not provide an offer until September 2025, leading to subsequent rejections of offers.

The final imposed offer consolidated an initial amount plus a further sum, which prompted the industrial action ballot.

The employer has reportedly made misleading statements regarding the size of the pay offer, noting that London Living Wage earners received a 5.5% rise corresponding to the last financial year's increase, though this group is a minority.

The 5.3% increase in the London Living Wage highlights the cost-of-living pressures impacting most staff who are subjected to the base pay offer.

The vote for strike action was favored by 88% of members, with 94% also voting for action short of a strike, and turnout was nearly 90%.

Members are scheduled to meet to determine the timing for industrial action and intent to continue engaging with the employer for an acceptable resolution.

The organization's leadership noted poor negotiating behavior from the Museum, including unacceptable delays, and stated that staff feel undervalued despite diligent work leading up to a new site opening.
