The staff are paid significantly less than the UK market rate and receive substandard maternity and paternity cover. In the ballot, all participating union members voted in favor of action short of a strike, while 78% supported full strike action, on a 100% turnout. The union is demanding a 10% pay rise to align with market comparators, whereas the airport has offered only 3% for both 2026 and 2027. Additionally, staff are seeking improved maternity and paternity leave policies to replace the current statutory arrangements.
