Svitzer Terminals (RMT) Strike Calendar

Members of a union at Svitzer Terminals, located at Fawley Esso Refinery, have voted strongly in favor of taking strike action.

The decision follows the company's ongoing inability to settle a protracted disagreement concerning contractual sick pay arrangements.

The core of the conflict stems from a staff transfer under TUPE regulations from Solent Towage to Svitzer Terminals.

Since the transfer, the company has reportedly failed to implement sick pay in accordance with established historical procedures.

Union representatives have engaged in numerous discussions over several months in an effort to resolve the situation, but these engagements have proven unsuccessful.

The industrial issue impacts all job classifications aboard the tugs managed by Svitzer that operate out of the refinery site.

It has been stated that the prolonged nature of the dispute is due to the organization's unwillingness to maintain long-standing operational customs.

A warning was issued that further postponements will certainly lead to the commencement of industrial action.
