A rail union is set to hold a ballot among hundreds of its members employed by an engineering company after the company implemented a pay offer below the rate of inflation.

Members across various regions in Great Britain will be asked to support strike action in a ballot opening on December 3rd and closing on December 15th.

This move comes after the company proceeded with a 2.2 per cent pay offer, or a £900 underpin, despite the offer having been previously rejected by the union members.

The potential industrial action could cause delays and disruption to the surveying and maintenance of critical railway infrastructure.

Approximately three hundred union members are involved in the ballot, being asked to vote for strike action and action short of a strike, such as overtime bans.

The engineering company provides various services in the transport sector, including work for Network Rail, London Underground, and Transport for Wales.

These services encompass the maintenance and enhancement of rail systems, including track, signalling, and power systems, as well as asset management and inspection.

The union holds collective bargaining rights for staff across several divisions of the engineering company, representing managers in these areas.
