GXO Logistics (UNITE) Strike Calendar

Unite the union can confirm it has delivered an inflation beating pay win for GXO drivers based in Bellshill. Around 30 HGV drivers covered by the pay deal which is backdated to April deliver kitchens on the Howdens contract to centres across Scotland.

The one year pay deal consists of a five per cent pay rise alongside all breaks being paid which is worth a further 5.5 per cent. This brings the overall pay package increase to 10.5 per cent. The union estimates that the drivers' overall pay package has increased by up to 30 per cent over the last three years since Unite gained trade union recognition in November 2023.

Unite the union can confirm it has delivered a significant pay win for GXO Logistics drivers based in Motherwell. The drivers who deliver supplies for major companies including Costco, Superdrug and Whyte & Mackay are set to benefit from a five per cent increase in basic pay backdated to April. A four per cent increase will be applied from January 1 2026 until the end of March 2027. There is also a boost to overtime payments.

Unite has warned that if the company fails to come back to the negotiating table with an improved pay offer, then a series of strike dates will run through November, December and into January 2026 (see notes to editor). The drivers are demanding an improvement on the current pay offer and a rate which would bring them into line with other GXO drivers working on other contracts based out of Motherwell. The current wage gap between the drivers and others placed on different delivery contracts is estimated at around 10 per cent.

Unite members will now strike from Tuesday 28 May until Tuesday 18 June. New dates for the warehouse worker walkout have been announced to include weekend shifts – causing further disruption to food and beverage distribution across the capital.

The affected warehouse workers take home just over £12 an hour and are suffering from the impacts of the cost-of-living crisis as a result, while rates for HGV drivers are also below market rates.
