Heathrow Airport Ltd (UNITE) Strike Calendar

Strike Type: Airports

Latest Updates (2)

The guarantees received from HAL include:

No further operational outsourcing of roles until at least 2026; A complete review of the effectiveness of outsourcing when contracts expire; HAL and Unite will negotiate to ensure job security for members ahead of the H8 regulatory period; Full genuine consultation with Unite prior to any issues concerning job security.

Heathrow Airport Ltd (HAL) has ignored existing consultation procedures and has announced a fait accompli that workers in passenger services (who assist travellers to catch connecting flights), trolley operations, and campus security (the security guards who are responsible for all workers at Heathrow and vehicles being checked before entering Heathrow), will be outsourced by 1 June.

The dispute covers three distinct issues:

The allocation of work to outsourced companies; The proposed change to the identity of our members’ employer; The refusal by HAL to agree multilateral bargaining for groups of workers working at Heathrow Airport.

The three outsourced areas are being joined in industrial action by firefighters and airside operations from HAL who recognise the deleterious impact outsourcing would have, fear that the fire service and airside operations may be next in line and support the idea of a multilateral collective bargaining agreement.
