Latest Lea Interchange Bus Company Industrial Action Updates (3)
Strikes set to take place this week by almost 450 bus drivers have been called off after they won a three-year pay deal. Unite members at the Lea Interchange Bus Company, part of Stagecoach, were set to walk out from tomorrow until Sunday (March 19 to 22) after they were not offered a pay rise despite the pay anniversary being April 2025. However, they have now accepted a new pay offer from their employer. The three-year deal will see them get a four per cent pay rise with effect from 29 March 2025 including backpay from this date, followed by an increase of inflation plus one per cent based on the CPI figure for April 2026. In the third year, they will receive an inflation-based increase on the CPI figure for April 2027.
Industrial action by around 350 bus drivers in East London tomorrow (6 February) and Saturday (7 February) has been called off. Workers at the company, part of Stagecoach, were due to walk out in a dispute around the victimisation and bullying of Unite reps. However, this has now been postponed to allow further discussions between Unite and the employer. Further strikes on 20 and 21 February have also been called off.
There will be travel chaos in London this December and January as 350 bus drivers will walk out in a dispute over union busting and bullying. The drivers, who are members of Unite, work for the Lea Interchange Bus Company (part of Stagecoach) at the Lea Interchange Bus Garage in Leyton, East London. They operate several routes across north east London. Unite representatives at the depot have been the target of aggressive behaviour since a change in management a few months ago. The chair of the branch was suspended, dismissed and then reinstated, while another rep has been suspended on trumped-up charges following an altercation with management. Unite believes the reps are being targeted for undertaking trade union activities, which goes against employment law.
