Latest Oxford University Press Industrial Action Updates (2)
Finance operations staff at Oxford University Press (OUP) are staging a demonstration and continuing strike action against plans to offshore their roles to India. Around 30 union members are striking until Friday 9 October, having previously walked out from 1 to 11 September and continuously since 28 September.
Workers were given a deadline to sign a settlement agreement or face transfer to a new employer with the loss of standard redundancy terms, as well as being asked to train replacements. The union reports that members have faced threats of disciplinary action and dismissal for taking industrial action.
More than 30 union members at Oxford University Press are scheduled to take strike action in September following employer plans to move nearly 50 roles to India. The offshoring of the finance operations department prevents affected staff from transferring under TUPE regulations. Initial strike action is planned to run from 1 to 11 September.
