Latest URENCO Industrial Action Updates (2)
Potential strike action by more than 200 uranium enrichment workers at URENCO in Cheshire will not go ahead after workers accepted an improved pay offer.
Union members had previously voted in favour of industrial action over a below-inflation pay deal of 4.1 per cent.
The accepted five-year deal includes a 4.5 per cent pay increase backdated to January and guarantees annual inflation-linked pay rises until 2030.
The dispute has been resolved without industrial action taking place.
More than 200 URENCO workers who are employed in enriching uranium at the company’s Capenhurst site in Cheshire have voted for strike action over pay, Unite, the UK’s leading union, said today. Annual pay negotiations with URENCO have always been based on the RPI rate of inflation for the previous September, which was 4.5 per cent in 2025. Despite record orders of €27.3 billion, profits (EBPITA) of €221.8 million and €12.9 million in net income, URENCO has put forward an offer of only 4.1 per cent, which has been rejected by the workers.
