Latest Haydon Bridge High School Industrial Action Updates (1)
Members of NASUWT-THE TEACHERS’ UNION at Haydon Bridge High School are planning five days of strike action, starting tomorrow, due to the school management's failure to implement an effective pupil behaviour management system.
Initial strikes planned for November were called off as a gesture of goodwill after management committed to addressing concerns about poor pupil behaviour.
However, since that agreement, no effective measures have been implemented by the school leadership.
This lack of subsequent action has left the union with no alternative but to reinstate the planned industrial action.
Discussions regarding the absence of an effective pupil behaviour management system have been ongoing for over a year.
The union asserts that school leaders are not meeting their fundamental responsibilities to both staff and students.
Members report that despite promises of support for upholding standards, little actual change in challenging behaviour has occurred.
The union states that strike action is being taken to establish basic working conditions that should already be standard in every school.
